Speech and the “Arab Street”.
I start my train trip across Europe from the Middle East, with a Mu’adhin singing to half of Istanbul, a young woman making her first speech in English in Beirut, and President Barack Obama speaking to the world from Cairo.
Stuff from the episode:
- The Sultan Ahmed – or “Blue Mosque” – in Istanbul where the call to prayer rings out five times a day.
- In the Blue Mosque courtyard they take their role as educators to the world about Islam very seriously – this is a family tree of the prophets emphasising the inter-relation of the Jewish, Christian and Islamic religions
- …just a nice photo from Istanbul…
